Leviathan is registered as a boss-style encounter in the supplied Age of Embers source. This page is written for players and does not invent a fixed stat line when the live NPC definition, difficulty or party scaling can change it.
Before the fight
- Search Leviathan in the Drop Viewer and confirm the exact variant.
- Use Teleport destinations to find the closest route and any scroll requirement.
- Bring protection prayers, food, restoration and an emergency exit until the mechanics are familiar.
- Check the Task book in case the encounter is tied to a Slayer or boss assignment.
Combat information
The active encounter class exposes a special-phase state machine rather than a static cache entry. Its normal melee bite rolls up to 38 damage before the player's defensive calculations. The fight uses ranged volleys, melee bites and arena specials; protection prayer and movement must be treated as separate reactions.
Special phases
- Volley: the default phase alternates projectile volleys with close-range bites. Keep enough distance to read the volley and do not stand in the centre when the arena hazards are active.
- Lightning: the source schedules a lightning projectile phase. Move from the marked strike area rather than trying to out-heal it.
- Shadow: the shadow phase uses a separate arena pattern. Keep the boss targetable while clearing the safe route around hazards.
- Enraged volley: when the tracked lowest hitpoint value reaches 20% or less, Leviathan becomes enraged and the volley amount changes. Boulder falls are then repeated every five ticks by the encounter controller, so standing still is unsafe.
Player sequence
- Start outside melee range and identify the first volley timing.
- Switch protection prayers before the projectile or bite lands; do not camp one prayer through a phase change.
- When lightning or shadow markers appear, move immediately and resume attacking from the safe tile.
- Save your strongest damage cycle for the final 20%, because the enrage adds repeated falling-boulder pressure.
- Search the live Drop Viewer for the normal or awakened variant before comparing the grind with other DT2 bosses.
Drops and progression
Open the in-game Drop Viewer for the current table. If a direct source table exists, find it in Complete drop table directory. Keep the first collection-log unique, compare duplicates with Item upgrades, Shop guide for players and Burn Points, and avoid treating table weights as one-in denominators.
